Explanation of the Tuition and Fees Schedule for the 2002-2003 School Year
St. John Luthern School
Mayville, Wi 53050

Tuition and fees are but a small portion of the total cost of education at St. John's. The cost, per year, per pupil, at St. John's is well over $3000.00 per child in kindergarten through eighth grade. The rates for academic services at St. John's are set annually by the Board of Ministry to Children. The board takes into account many factors in determining the structure of the tuition and fees. It is the board's desire that all students who wish to attend St. John's be given the opportunity to do so. Various scholarships are offered to those families who are in financial need.

A registration fee is collected from each family that enrolls a student at St. John's. The purpose of this fee is to support the purchase of text books, consumables, art supplies, duplicating costs and the like.

Tuition is charged to all families. Member families are expected to support the operation of the school through their weekly offering in addition to their tithe. However, members also pay a small tuition to offset the rising costs of a Lutheran School education. Families who do not have their church membership at St.John's Lutheran Church - LCMS, Mayville, Wisconsin, are considered non-members. Non-member families are charged a higher tuition to offset the cost of the day to day operation of the school. The registration fee is not included in the cost of tuition.

These fees may be paid in installments, or in full upon registration.

The mission of the congregation is to make disciples for Christ. The full cost of education is not represented in the amount of tuition that is charged. The congregational support of non-member children keeps tuition affordable for many families. Attendance at congregational functions where the children are involved is a small, but very important way to acknowledge the congregations support to those children.

Fees and tuition are considered late if payment does not occur before the fifteenth of each month it is due. This obviously does not apply to those accounts that are paid in full before the registration deadline. Late fee and tuition payments that are not received by the fifteenth will be directed to the Board Of Ministry to Children. The board may choose to remove students from class until payment is made. When proper arrangements have been made the student will be allowed to return to class.

If there is a situation that would make payment of fees and tuition a hardship on the family, it is necessary that the parent contact the principal with that information as soon as possible. As stated, there are many forms of financial aid available. It is our desire to not remove a child from school due to late payment of fees. All we ask is that you communicate your needs to the principal.

We look forward to serving you and working along with you during the 2002-2003 school year.
